Safeguard

FIT permanently safeguards outdoor recreational spaces in perpetuity via a Deed of Dedication This legal instrument is unique to us and approved by the Charity Commission and allows us to act as a guarantor between any landowner and any potential future development.

Our preferred model does not involve us owning or managing these sites as we firmly believe this is best left in local hands with decisions made by local people. FIT protection provides reassurance that the future of any recreational site is secured for the benefit of future communities. In the past we protected 1281 sites through ownership and some through covenants and we still work alongside these FIT fields today.

In general a recreational site should be at least 0.2 hectares but we will often take smaller sites into consideration if they are of particular value to a community with limited access to outdoor spaces.
